Accreditation by the Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA)
Department of Commerce is thrilled to announce that our degree programs have been accredited by the Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA) in the UK and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) in Australia, in accordance with the revised curriculum by 2021.
These prestigious accreditations affirm the high standards of our Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Accounting and Finance program. Graduates with at least one year of relevant work experience are eligible for Intermediate Financial Accountant (IFA) membership and dual membership with the IPA. For those seeking full Associate Financial Accountant (AFA) status, completing a specific course unit, “Corporate Reporting for Strategic Business,” and acquiring three years of relevant experience is required.
Graduates of the Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Business Technology Management from the University of Jaffna, with at least one year of relevant accountancy or finance experience, are eligible to apply for Intermediate Financial Accountant (IFA) membership and dual membership with the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) of Australia. For those aiming for full Associate Financial Accountant (AFA) membership, additional requirements include passing three specific course units—Financial Management, Assurance, and Corporate Reporting for Strategic Business—and having at least three years of relevant experience. These accreditations not only validate the quality and rigor of our academic programs but also significantly boost the professional credibility and global employability of our graduates.
