Gold Medals & Prestigious Awards by Professional Bodies for Bachelor of Commerce Students at the University of Jaffna
The Department of Commerce at the University of Jaffna is honored to be recognized by esteemed professional bodies for our commitment to academic excellence. In collaboration with international and national professional institutions, several Gold Medals and Academic Awards are presented annually to high-performing students in our Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree programs.
These accolades not only acknowledge outstanding academic performance but also serve as a gateway to professional recognition and career advancement in the fields of accounting, finance, and business technology management.
ACCA Gold Medal
Awarded by: Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) – Global
Program Awarded: Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Accounting and Finance
Award Title: ACCA Gold Medal for the Best Preforming Student in Accounting and Finance Special
The ACCA Gold Medal is awarded to the student who demonstrates the highest academic performance in the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Accounting and Finance program. In the event of a tie in the Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA), the medal is conferred upon the student with the highest total marks in the entire degree program.
Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CASL) Gold Medal
Awarded by: Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CASL)
Program Awarded: Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Accounting and Finance
Award Title: CASL Gold Medal for the Best Preforming Student in Accounting and Finance Special
The CASL Gold Medal is awarded to the student who secures the highest average marks across designated research-focused modules within the Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Accounting and Finance program. To be eligible, the student must have achieved either a First Class or Second-Class Upper Division. In the event of a tie, the medal is awarded to the student with the highest total marks in the degree program.
SLACC Gold Medals (Dual Awards)
Awarded by: Sri Lanka and Australia Chamber of Commerce (SLACC)
Programs Awarded:
- Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Accounting and Finance
- Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Business Technology Management
Award Titles:
- SLACC Gold Medal for the Most Outstanding Student in Accounting and Finance
- SLACC Gold Medal for the Most Outstanding Student in Business Technology Management
The SLACC Gold Medal is awarded to the student with the highest-Grade Point Average (GPA) in each respective program, Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Accounting and Finance and Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Business Technology Management. To qualify, the student must have obtained either a First Class or Second-Class Upper Division. In the case of a tie, the medal is awarded to the student with the highest total marks in the program.
Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Gold Medal

Program Awarded: Bachelor of Commerce Honours – All Streams
Award Title: Gold Medal for Excellence in Commerce and Business Strategy
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Gold Medal is awarded to the student who attains the highest average marks in key business and strategy-related modules within the Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree program. Eligibility requires a minimum achievement of either a First Class or Second-Class Upper Division. In the event of a tie, the student with the highest total marks across the entire degree program will be selected as the recipient.
Bank of Ceylon (BOC) Gold Medal
Awarded by: Bank of Ceylon (BOC)
Program Awarded: Bachelor of Commerce Honours – All Streams
Award Title: BOC Gold Medal for the Overall Best Performer
The Bank of Ceylon (BOC) Gold Medal is awarded to the student who achieves the highest Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) across the entire Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree program.
